The Countdown Begins

Believe it or not, there are only 616 days until our juniors graduate! It’s almost October. While our official planning for their Senior Party will get underway in the spring, we would like to invite anyone interested in working on the committee state their interest in a particular area. At this point, if you have a desire to chair a committee or to work on a committee, but not chair, please let us know. Our official meetings will begin in the spring, along with a couple of fundraisers over the summer, but at this time we would like to get our team in order.

I know it may sound early to begin planning, but our reason is two-fold. Historically between 50-65% of the class attends the after graduation party. Also, the price of the party to the grads can be as high as $75 ($175 at other schools). We would like to keep the ticket price very low – possibly $25-$40, so it is affordable for more students. This takes fundraising and we are particularly excited about our irons in the fire.

As of today, the following chair positions are available: Decorations, Entertainment, Food, Fundraising, Medical, Registration, Security, Transportation, Treasurer, Venue, and Coat Room / Gift Bag Chairs. We also invite anyone who would like to help with the planning but without the chair responsibility. For those of you who would like to work at our party, there will be opportunity to sign up next year. Junior parents will be needed to help set up this year’s party, as well, while the senior parents are at graduation, not only something we will need in 2014, but a good way to get a glimpse of things to come.

We also invite you to follow our planning at our blog - schoolsout2014.blogspot.com/.

Also, don’t forget to recycle your metal (aluminum cans, tin cans, scrap metal) at Express Metals, Hopkins, with proceeds going to Senior Class Party Hopkins 2014.

Here’s to a great junior and senior year!

Four ways to help

Welcome back to the first day of school. It's hard to believe our kids are juniors.

With his year's focus on college testing, AP courses, varsity sports, our attention to the post-graduation party will be more limited. Once we are into the second half of the school year, the planning pace will pick up.  Our goal is to have a safe place for celebration for the largest number of graduates at a modest price.  A few of our fundraisers will take place before senior year begins, thus the need to get started on them before next summer.

As we would like to see as many students at the party as possible, we would also like to involve as many parents as we can. There are four ways to support the party, depending on your interest and time.
  • Chair or co-chair a committee (see the earlier post)
  • Work as a member of a committee
  • Help set up, work the night of the party, or on an earlier activity (such as a fundraiser)
  • Donate money or in-kind (refreshments, gift cards, prizes, etc)
Feel free to contact us, whether you have questions or are ready to commit to your level of involvement.

Don't forget to recycle your metals at Express Metals and ask that your donation be credited to the Hopkins High School Senior Party 2014.

Here's to a great junior year!
